Enforcement wing curbs illegal transportation of PDS commodities

Hyderabad: The Enforcement wing of Civil Supplies department was able to curb illegal transportation of PDS commodities from the past one year, after its establishment.

According to Civil Supplies Commissioner C V Anand, the Civil Supplies Department’s experiment gained success in putting brakes to illegal transportation of PDS commodities, mainly ration rice, by introduction of Enforcement wing. Irregularities in PDS commodities’ distribution, mainly rice, which was meant to benefit the poor by the State government was diverted to black market had been controlled by strict vigil with the help of Enforcement wing with SP rank police officers as chief, which was established a year ago.  

From February 2016 to January 31, 2018 Enforcement teams have conducted 843 raids and special checks on Mandal-level godowns, FP shops, CMR Mills, organisations receiving Sanna Biyyam (super fine rice) for Mid-day meal programs, Hostels, Welfare Schools, LPG godowns, vehicles, trains transporting PDS rice to other States.
