Hyderabad: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) State party paid tributes to the party's ideologue and thinker Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay here on Sunday.

The party State President K Laxman, former Union Minister Bandaru Dattatreya, party MLA G Kishan Reddy and other senior leaders and party men participated in the 'Samarpan Diwas', which the party is observing nationwide on Sunday, to mark the death anniversary of one of the architects of the party's ideology.

Speaking on the occasion, Laxman said despite several hurdles on the home front and in his life, Deen Dayal Upadhya had dedicated his whole life for the people and country's integrity, taking the party ideology to the people.

Recalling his stint in the political arena, Laxman said, “Deen Dayal Upadhya's prescription not to follow shortcuts to win elections and stresses on politics with values and principles”. He said the party had been built on the sacrifices made by Shyama Prakash Mukherjee and Deen Dayal Upadhyaya and the humanism and economic policies of Upadhyaya remains relevant to the country, he said.

Dattatreya stressed the 'Ekatma Manava Vadam' propounded by Deena Dayala Upadhyaya is relevant to the troubled times in which the country is going through. This is to instill patriotism and to serve the poorest of the poor first.

Kishan Reddy said that politics in today's India are revolving around caste, regions and families. It was against this backdrop that BJP is placed in such special circumstances. However, it was the ideological and dedicated party men remained the strength of the party to come to power from a mere two-seat party.
