Women bikers expedition flagged off
Hyderabad: Tourism and Culture Minister A Chandulal on Sunday flagged off a team of four girls riding motorbikes, which would visit seven countries for promotion of Telangana Tourism.
The Minister along with Tourism Secretary B Venkatesham and Executive Director Dr K Lakshmi and officials at Paryatak Bhavan, gave send off to the team for expedition of East Asian countries to promote tourism and culture of the youngest State. Speaking on the occasion, Chandulal appreciated the girls for coming forward daringly to make a ride of 17,000 km and make round of the seven countries in 50 days.
The countries to be covered by the team include India, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Thailand, Lavos, Vietnam and Cambodia. The adventure begun with a theme of 'Road to Mekong' would cover 17,000 km in seven nations in seven weeks, the Minister said.
Jai Bharathi is leading the team comprising Priya, Shanthi and Shilpa. Clad in black dresses and shoes with bikes sponsored by Bajaj Auto Company, the aim of the expedition is to promote Incredible India and Telangana Tourism, safety for women in Telangana and exchange of tourism and culture.
The girls would be organising cultural evenings at selected pit stops like major cities and district headquarters. The idea was to showcase the safety of women travellers in India and to create content showcasing the less explored and cover fabulous parts of the country. The focus is on Incredible India! and Telangana Tourism.
