Iranian President to visit Hyderabad on Feb 15
Hyderabad: Iranian President Hassan Rouhani will visit Hyderabad on February 15 and will take part in various activities including interactions with Muslim clerics, intellectuals and leaders.
According to a press release issued here on Monday, Rouhani will reach the city on Thursday evening. He will address a gathering of Muslim intellectuals, clerics and leaders the same day in the city. On February 16, the Iranian President will address the Muslim congregation at Makkah Masjid after performing Friday prayers at the historic mosque. Religious scholars from different schools of thoughts will also participate in the session.
This is the second time Hassan Rouhani is visiting Hyderabad, and first time after assuming charge as the President. Dr Rouhani holds a doctorate in Constitutional Law (with the thesis titled Flexibility of Shariah; Islamic Law) from Glasgow Caledonian University of the UK.
He is considered an authority on law and has over 100 books and scientific papers on subjects including National Security, Nuclear Diplomacy, Economic System, Islamic Political Thought, Islamic Revolution, Environment, Islamic Legislative Power among others to his credit.
The President is expected to visit historic sites in Hyderabad including the Qutub Shahi Tombs at Golconda and pay homage to the erstwhile founders of Hyderabad with Irani lineage. Hyderabad and Iran share historic ties and Iranians have been dwelling in Hyderabad for ages. It is pertinent to mention that the architect of Hyderabad Mir Momin was an Iranian, and the magnificent Charminar is a replica of Hazrath Imam Raza’s tomb.
