Hyderabad: Leader of Opposition in Legislative Council Mohammed Ali Shabbir on Tuesday said that a Congress tsunami will soon hit Telangana State and remove the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) regime for the good of people. Addressing the media, he said the TRS government had let down the people of Telangana once again as the highly publicised bills of 12 per cent quota for Muslims and 10 per cent for STs have been returned by Centre.

He said the Congress party demands a clarification from Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao about the return of bills which were passed in the State Assembly on April 16, 2017. He wanted to know what action the government would take in this regard.

He alleged that the Chief Minister was afraid of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the reasons best known to him. He said that the Congress will extend full support in the fight against Modi. Shabbir wanted to know whether the Chief Minister would stick to his words and stage a dharna at Jantar Mantar and go to Supreme Court on the reservations issue.

Referring to the praises by Government of India Principal Financial Advisor Aravind Subramaniam on Telangana government, Shabbir said what is the use of such compliments when they could not be turned into funds.

He said the Chief Minister should ask Subramaniam to recommend the Centre to support the schemes and declare Kaleshwaram irrigation project as national project and fulfil all the assurances given in the State Re-organisation Act with budgetary support and let him ensure that ATMs and banks would have sufficient cash for the benefit of common people. He dared the Chief Minister to go to mid-term polls and said that it would show the real strength of the TRS.
