Wipro to set up a manufacturing unit in Telangana
Hyderabad: Wipro Consumer Care products division has decided to invest Rs 220 crore to set up a manufacturing unit in Telangana.
The unit will manufacture toilet soaps and other personal care products. The project will come up in a 40 acre land in Maheshwaram mandal of Rangareddy District, creating 300 direct jobs and about 200 indirect jobs.
On the sidelines of World Congress on Information Technology 2018, IT Minister K Tarakarama Rao met Rishad Premji, Director, Wipro Enterprises in Hyderabad today.
Minister Rama Rao thanked the management of Wipro for preferring Telangana over other competing states for setting up this unit. Minister also suggested that there are many other business opportunities that Wipro can further explore in Telangana. “Wipro has a good presence in the state and its new manufacturing unit will boost the progress of the industrial sector in Telangana,” said KTR.
Through TS-iPASS Telangana government has given approvals to many mega projects and the latest investment by Wipro is a testimony of the fact that Telangana is the favourite destination for investors, he added.
