Wipro to set up mfg unit in Telangana
Hyderabad: Wipro Consumer Care & Lighting will invest Rs220 crore to set up a manufacturing unit in Telangana. The unit will manufacture toilet soaps and other personal care products. The project will come up on a 40-acre land in Maheshwaram mandal, Ranga Reddy district and generate 500 employment opportunities including 300 direct jobs and 200 indirect jobs.
Rishad Premji, Director, Wipro Enterprises, met Telangana IT and Industry Minister KT Rama Rao on the side lines of WCIT-2018 here on Wednesday. Azim Premji’s son Rishad Premji is also vice-chairman of Nasscom and has participated in WCIT-2018. Minister KTR thanked the management of Wipro for choosing Telangana over other competing states for setting up this unit.
“Wipro has a good presence in the state and its new manufacturing unit will boost the progress of the industrial sector in the state. There are many other business opportunities that Wipro can further explore in Telangana,” KTR said.
Through TS-iPASS, Telangana government has given approvals to many mega projects and the latest investment by Wipro is a testimony of the fact that Telangana is the favourite destination for investors.
