KCR: Lands would be considered benami if not linked with Aadhaar
Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Friday announced that the “pattadar” (land ownership) passbooks need to be linked to their Aadhaar numbers.
With the distribution of pattadar passbooks to owners to take place from March 11, this move has been introduced by the Telangana government in order to maintain a system similar to banks to administer land records.
KCR said that if the Aadhaar numbers are not linked to the lands, they would be considered benami.
Aan official release said that the farmers who had been assigned lands should also be given these passbooks.
The move is a first for any state in the country and aims to facilitate immediate changes in land records whenever any transaction took place.
The Chief Minister stated that clarity should be provided on ownership rights of the lands and also the beneficiaries’ lands should be identified.
He also instructed the officials to ensure drinking water supply to all villages by March 31 under Mission Bhagiratha.
