10 arrested for using mobile while driving

Hyderabad: The traffic police on Friday night cracked down on those using ear phones while driving. They frisked the commuters late in the night. As many as 10 persons were sentenced for one day jail and Rs 1000 fine for driving with ear phones plugged in.

The arrested youths were crest-fallen as they were not aware of the changed rules. There was no publicity about the new rules.

The police, however, sent the persons caught with ear phones to the court, which sentenced them for a day’s imprisonment. The drive was conducted near Goshamahal for two days. The arrested persons were shown 15 minute videos on safe driving practices.
