Voting for TRS will be like voting for Modi: Uttam

Update: 2018-03-01 01:35 IST

Hyderabad : Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President Capt. N. Uttam Kumar Reddy said that voting for TRS in next elections will be like voting for Narender Modi (Prime Minister).

Addressing a massive public meeting at Zaheerabad on the third day of Praja Chaitanya Bus Yatra on Wednesday, Uttam Kumar Reddy slammed the BJP Government at the Centre for incidents of atrocities on minorities. Referring to the incident of murder of Akhlaq Ahmed who was lynched to death on the suspicion of keeping beef in his house, he said under the Modi Rule, the country has been witnessing harassment of minorities which was never seen in the past.

The TPCC Chief accused KCR of doing 'chamchagiri' (sycophancy) of PM Modi. "Whatever PM Modi does, KCR supports him. He was the first CM to support demonitisation. While discussion GST Bill in Assembly, he prevented us from criticising Modi. While PM Modi is harassing minorities, KCR is supporting him in all his moves," he said.

Uttam Kumar Reddy asked as to why KCR shivers while meeting PM Modi. "Is it due to fear, respect or something else?" he asked.

He said while all Chief Ministers are fighting with the Centre for their States, KCR and TRS MPs are silent and they never speak against Modi. He said only Congress party could ensure security and development of minorities in India. Therefore, he said voting for TRS will be like voting for BJP and it will be a vote against Muslim community itself. He said Congress president Rahul Gandhi is all set to become the next Prime Minister of India and people should defeat KCR, if they want to remove Modi.

Uttam Kumar Reddy said that TRS has no moral right to seek votes from Muslim community in next elections. He said Muslims have been cheated by TRS Government on 12% reservation issue. He said KCR, while addressing an election meeting at Shadnagar on April 19, 2014, had promised to implement 12% Muslim quota within four months after coming to power. However, he said that the promise has remained unfilled even after four years. He said KCR is trying to again cheat the Muslims by saying that he would speak to PM Modi or stage a dharna in Delhi.

He asked Muslim community to do a serious analysis of prevailing situation and decide who could protect their interest - KCR or Congress?

The TPCC chief also explained the major failures of KCR Government and also gave a brief account of what Congress party proposes to do for various sections of the society if voted to power in next elections.

Stating that he was addressing the fifth meeting of Praja Chaitanya Yatra in Zaheerabad, Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the people's mood was completely in favour of Congress party. He said a silent revolution was brewing against TRS Government and soon Telangana State would be free from the clutches of KCR family. He once again announced that he and his family members would quit the politics if Congress party did not win next elections.

Earlier in the day, Uttam Kumar Reddy, along with other Congress leaders, visited Bobbili village of Sadashivpet of Sangareddy district to meet the wife of a cotton farmer, Tallari Srisailam, who had committed suicide due to debts. They gave financial assistance of Rs. 1 lakh to the widow and conveyed their sympathies. Later, in his speech Uttam slammed the Chief Minister for not even expressing condolences when people of his own district are committing suicide. He said that the Chief Minister has turned too inhuman and arrogant.

Uttam Kumar Reddy reminded people about a famous perception that whenever Geetha Reddy wins elections, Congress party comes to power. However, he said while Geetha Reddy won as MLA in 2014, the Congress party lost elections in Telangana State. But in 2019, he said both Geetha Reddy and Congress party would win election. He praised Geetha Reddy for working very hard for development of Zaheerabad by brining industries like Mahendra Tractors. He promised that the Congress legislators would raise the issue of land acquisition for National Investment & Manufacturing Zones (NIMZ) in the budget session of Assembly. He demanded that land acquisition should be done on the present market rates.

The TPCC chief also recalled the services of Congress veteran late Baga Reddy.

Senior Congress leaders including R.C. Khuntia, Shabbir Ali, Komatireddy Venkatreddy, former captain of Indian Cricket Team Md Azharuddin and other leaders also addressed the meeting.

Later in the evening, Uttam Kumar Reddy and other leaders addressed a massive meeting at Narayankhed.
