Nirmala Sitharaman pays tributes to Bangaru Laxman
Hyderabad: Union Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman paid tributes to former national president of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Bangaru Laxman on the occasion of his fourth death anniversary. The Union Minister took part in the event organised by BJP State unit here on Thursday. While addressing the gathering, she said Bangaru Laxman had grown in the party from a humble beginning to lead it at the national level.
With all the uncertainties around, whether the party comes into power or not, scores of party workers like him had worked with commitment without expecting anything in return, she added.
National leaders like former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, former Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani, and Bangaru Laxman were among those who had worked as normal party men to strengthen the party. Despite having differences among individuals, once the party took a decision, the party workers had worked hard to make the decision a success in a given timeline, she said.
It was the disciplined party cadre with which the BJP national president Amit Shah had given it a shape of the world largest political party. Even in the States like North-East, people were turning up with a commitment to participate in the party meetings, she said.
Bangaru Laxman had a commanding ease in explaining the party’s ideology to the people against the backdrop of national and international changes impacting the country, she added. He had played a key role in United Andhra Pradesh to establish the party in Andhra and Telangana regions, she said.
BJPLP leader G Kishan Reddy recalled the services of Laxman, who played a key role in building the party along with V Rama Rao in United Andhra Pradesh.
