Hyderabad Water Board makes arrangements to avoid drinking water scarcity

Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB) is preparing to make arrangements during the current summer season in order to avoid any drinking water problems in the city.

The HMWS&SB Managing Director M Dana Kishore said that every day, the city is being supplied with 400 million gallon litres of water as of now and the board is preparing to supply additional 25 million gallon litres a day during peak summer if needed.

Nevertheless, the Water Board official assured that Hyderabad’s drinking water requirement is sufficiently catered and measures are being taken only to avoid issues in the water supply.

Officials, appointed to monitor the summer action plan, were issued instructions to do away with the supply of water through tankers and ensure the supplies through taps.

Also, the Board will be focusing on sewerage lines and introduce super sucker machines which will help in curbing water contamination.

The Managing Director directed the operations and maintenance to prioritise on improving revenue collection and disconnect water connections for those consumers, who fail to pay their bills.
