52 Rail over Bridges on anvil in State
Hyderabad: State government in coordination with the South Central Railways (SCR) will construct 52 Rail over Bridge (ROBs) at all level crossings in the State with an estimated cost of Rs 2,700 crore.
Roads and Buildings Minister T Nageswara Rao chaired a review meeting with the SCR officials here on Wednesday. The Minister said that the State government in coordination with SCR would construct 52 ROBs out of the proposed 460 ROBs at all the level crossings in the State to ease out the traffic congestion.
These 52 ROBs would be constructed in a phased manner and the funds would be borne equally by the State government and SCR, he added. The Minister further said that the government was giving top priority for the ROBs and RUBs for providing better transport facilities. ROBs of four-lane would come up at four lane highways being built in the State and the Railways had given its nod, he said.
Rao said the government was committed to avoid accidents at level crossings and ease frequent traffic jams. The Minister asked the railway officials to provide funds to renovate the old ROBs and cooperate to complete construction of the same in a time bound manner.
