Telangana schemes lessons to other States: Govt Chief Whip

Hyderabad: Government Chief Whip K Eshwar on Tuesday said the development works and welfare activities of the government have become lessons to other States in the country. The Chief Whip moved the motion of thanks on the Governor’s address in the Assembly. Eshwar said every development and welfare programme of the government was reaching the people of the State and these programmes have been lessons for the other States in the country. The Chief Whip said the government was committed to complete the irrigation projects in the State and provide water to 1 crore acres.

He informed that the State had achieved higher growth rate than other States. The growth rate of the State two years before Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) came into power was four per cent but during 2016-17 the growth rate increased to 8.6 per cent, which is more than the national rate of 7.5 per cent. 
He further said the per capita income of the citizens was also higher than the national per capita income. He said the per capita income at national level was Rs 1.03 lakh and the per capita income in the State was Rs 1.56 lakh. 

Eshwar said 33,300 farmers benefitted with the loan waiver scheme of the government. He said because of the efforts of the government record food grains production was registered during 2016-17. The State had produced 101.29 lakh metric tonnes of food grains during 2016-17 and the capacity of godowns had increased from four lakh metric tonnes to 18.30 lakh metric tonnes, he added.

Seconding the motion, MLA K P Vivekanand said Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao was going with short, medium and long-term goals and planning programmes benefitting all sections. He said the Chief Minister’s name would be specially mentioned in the history of Telangana and urged Speaker S Madhusudhana Chary to take MLAs to the Kaleshwaram project site to witness the works being carried out.
