Govt to pump 15,562 cr into PR & RD department

 Hyderabad: The government has made substantial allocations to the Panchayat Raj and Rural Development department in order to improve the social and economic conditions of people in rural areas. 

In his address to the Assembly, Finance Minister Eatala Rajender said Rs 15,562 crore has been allocated to Panchayat Raj and Rural Development department, i.e., Rs 8,929 crore to PR and Rs 6,633 crore to RD.  He said apart from this amount, substantial allocations have been made to sheep rearing, pisciculture and poultry sectors.

“An action plan is being implemented for improving the living standards of people in rural areas. While initiating measures for growth of agriculture sector, government is also implementing schemes for allied sectors. It has formulated special schemes for the artisans dependant on rural economy,” he said.  

For comprehensive development of villages and to strengthen the Panchayat system, the government was going to introduce a new ‘Panchayat Raj Bill’ in the current session, the Minister informed.
