TS Govt cancels mining lease of 477 inactive firms

Hyderabad : Industries & Mines Minister K. Tarakarama Rao has informed that the Telangana Government has cancelled the mining lease of 477 firms which did not start their activities even after getting license last year.
 
Addressing a review meeting with higher officials on Friday, the minister directed that criminal cases be booked against those indulging in illegal mining. He said there would be no compromise on the issue of illegal mining and those involved in it would not be spared irrespective their stature. He said action has been taken against 79 companies by conducting raids at 354 places across the State.
 
Further, he said mining lease of 477 inactive companies has been cancelled.
 
The minister also informed that the State Government was coming up a new mining policy which would be unique in the country. He advised the officials to allot mining operations through e-auctions. He said global tenders should be invited for granite mining. He also informed that the Mines Department has crossed the revenue targets for the current financial year.
 
The meeting was also attended by Mines Director Sushil Kumar, Telangana Mineral Development Corporation Managing Director Malsoor and other officials.
