Govt working on effective recruitment process
Hyderabad: Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao said that the State government is working on an effective recruitment process for the appointment of public prosecutors (PPs) in the courts.
Making a brief intervention during the question answer session in the State Assembly here on Monday, the Chief Minister said the sole purpose of taking time in working for the new system is to ensure quick delivery of justice to the victims.
K Chandrashekar Rao said earlier steps had been taken to book habitual offenders who were roaming freely and engaging in repeated offences under PD Act. Following this, the offenders got convicted while they were behind the bars. The police department took it as a challenge and worked hard in every case to secure convictions. This resulted in the reduction of crime in the city and elsewhere.
However, it was only a partial victory and the State government wanted to ensure quick delivery of justice by strengthening the department of public prosecutions. Efforts are on to make an in-depth review of the existing procedures and take up changes needed if any to strengthening the recruitment process, he said. Once the same gets finalised then recruitment will be taken up soon, the Chief Minister said.
Home Minister Nayini Narasimha Reddy said a meeting had been called with the officials concerned to discuss the issues on Monday itself.
Earlier, raising the issue, TRS MLA V Srinivas Goud said due to delay in the recruitment process there is a shortage of public prosecutors. This led to each public prosecutor attending four to five courts handle cases of the government and urged that the State government immediately take up the recruitment process.
