Update: 2018-03-20 22:11 IST

Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao once again broached the subject of debts in the Legislative Assembly on Tuesday.

When questioned by the BJP members regarding the state debts, KCR clarified that India's GDP was Rs 167 lakh crore, while the country's debt was Rs 82 lakh crore. He said that the central government has made debts at 49.5 percent and this year central bank is paying Rs 8.76 lakh crore.

The Chief Minister continued, “Isn’t BJP party in power in 21 states? Are these states continuing to govern without liabilities? We are lending to our limit. The debts are part of the budget. Even developed countries such as America and Japan are also borrowing.”

He said, “The central government will have to pay Rs 5,35,618 crore in 2016-17, Rs 5,94,849 crores in 2017-18 and Rs 6,24,276 crores in 2018-19. These are the debts made by the BJP government in the last three years. Finance Minister Jaitley himself said this in the Budget this year.”

Stating that the debts are not less intellectual, KCR said, "The Telangana GSDP has 21 percent debt with under Rs. 9 crores loan. Are the welfare schemes like the development of irrigation projects, support pensions, gurukul schools, Kalyana Lakshmi and Shaadi Mubarak not good work by the TRS Government in the last four years?”
