Lakshminarayana seeks VRS; to join politics
Hyderabad: Maharashtra Additional Director-General of Police (Planning) VV Lakshminarayana has caused a flutter by seeking voluntary retirement from his service.
He sent a letter to the Centre through Maharashtra Director-General of Police setting off speculation that he might chart his future course in public life by joining a political party, but it is not yet known which party. A 1990-batch IPS officer from Kurnool district, Laskshminarayana belongs to Maharashtra cadre.
He is not only known for his integrity, but also is quite popular in AP and Telangana after he, as joint director of CBI, spearheaded investigation of disproportionate assets case against YSRC chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. He also led probe into illegal operations of Obulapuram mining company Emaar, Satyam scam and so on.
After his successful stint in Hyderabad, Lakshminarayana went back to Maharashtra but he visits AP and Telangana frequently and motivates students with his inspiring speeches. He is also a God-fearing man and is known to be part of several spiritual programmes.
