Minister assures action against illegal modification of private buses
Hyderabad: Transport Minister P. Mahender Reddy said that the authorities would not allow plying of private buses with modified bodies in violation of the rules in Telangana State.
Replying to a question raised by TRS MLAs Srinivas Goud and A. Venkateshwar Reddy in Legislative Assembly during Question Hour on Saturday, the Minister said that accidents have not occurred because of modified bus body but because of rash driving of the drivers of the vehicles.
He said action has been taken against such private operators. He said 54 permits have been suspended by the Transport department during the period from November 1, 2017 to February 22, 2018, a total of 89 show causes notices issued to the permit holders, 855 vehicles which obtained permits from other states and violated permit conditions cases have been booked and forwarded to their respective states, 955 cases have been booked for absence of second drivers and drivers working for more than 8 hours.
