Scrap Contributory Pension Scheme, demand state staff

Hyderabad: The Sakala Udyogula Sabha (All Employees’ Meet), a gathering of the employees of all the sections of the government on Sunday demanded scrapping of the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS) and resolving other issues of the employees.

Thousands of government employees, outsourced employees, and retired staff of 31 districts met at Saroornagar Stadium where they resolved to fight with the government on various issues.

The employees demanded appointment of Pay Revision Commission (PRC) immediately, regularise the services of the outsourced staff and raise their wages to Rs 20,000 per month.

Telangana Non-Gazetted Employees Organisation, Gazetted Employees Association, leaders of Joint Action Committees of various departments addressed the employees in the meeting.  TNGOs state president and Employees Joint Action Committee chairman Karem Ravinder, general secretary Mamatha, leaders Chandrasekhar Goud and Satyanarayana demanded the government to solve the issues of the employees.

The leaders of the employees pointed out that it was the government employees who spearheaded the Telangana movement. They said that slowly the employees are drifting away from the government.

They said that some power brokers, who have access to Pragathi Bhavan, the official residence of the Chief Minister, have been misleading the government and they should be chased away.

The leaders, however, said that they would support the Federal Front being proposed by the Chief Minister, if he scraps the CPS. The employees’ leaders said never did in the past the staff had to wait for years for lifting general ban on transfers. They wanted the government to bring back the Telangana people working in Andhra Pradesh government. 

The JAC, which organised the meet, demanded that the government should relax the minimum service of three years for promotion to the next level, as so many vacancies are available in the higher cadre but the remained vacant because of lack of eligible candidates.

They also listed out various other issues which are pending with the government, including sanction of gratuity and family pension to the CPS employees and payment of salaries to the Zilla Grandhlaya Samastha employees under 101-head through the Treasury. The leaders demanded that the Dearness Allowance dues, which are pending since July 1, 2017, be released immediately.
