Telangana State needs more veterinary institutions

Hyderabad: The State needed an additional 670 veterinary institutions to cover about 88.43 lakh livestock units in Telangana. Disclosing this, Minister for Animal Husbandry T Srinivas Yadav in a written statement to a question in the State Assembly said there were a total of 2,218 veterinary institutions in the State.
This includes eight district veterinary hospitals, including the veterinary university hospital. Besides, there are 99 area hospitals, 909 primary clinics, 1,101 sub-centres for animal health and 100 mobile veterinary clinics. He said as per the norms every 5,000 livestock population should have a primary veterinary centre with a graduate veterinarian.
