Telangana Cabinet meet today to ratify Panchayat Raj Bill
Hyderabad: With the Telangana government taking a decision to introduce new Panchayat Raj Bill in the ongoing budget session of the Assembly, Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has convened a meeting of the Cabinet for its approval on Wednesday.
The meeting is likely to be held on the Assembly premises before tabling of the bill in the House on Wednesday morning. The government has prepared the new bill aiming to strengthen the local bodies by conferring more powers to the elected local representatives.
The seven-member Cabinet sub-committee headed by Panchayat Raj Minister J Krishna Rao has prepared the draft bill. The committee comprises Agriculture Minister Pocharam Srinivas Reddy, IT and Industries Minister KT Rama Rao, Housing Minister A Indrakaran Reddy, Finance Minister Eatala Rajender, Roads & Buildings Minister Tummala Nageshwar Rao and Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao.
