KCR promises safe drinking water, power supply in new GPs
Hyderabad: Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on Friday made the promise of providing round the clock quality power supply and safe drinking water in all newly created gram panchayats in the tribal areas.
A delegation of tribal leaders along with their community people met the Chief Minister and thanked the government for upgrading many tribal hamlets as gram panchayats through the new Panchayat Raj act.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said under ST sub plan the tribal local bodies will get more funds for the developmental programmes in the coming years. It is expected that government will allocate Rs 50,000 crore for the ST welfare under the sub plan in the next five years.
The Chief Minister said the government was making efforts to upgrade all the tribal habitations as gram panchayats to the community to develop on their own. Nearly 3,000 tribal villages will be converted into panchayats soon, he added.
