Kaleshwaram project boon to Telangana: Ex-Jharkhand CM
Peddapalli: Former Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemanth Soren said Kaleshwaram project was a boon to Telangana State. He along with Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao reviewed the Sundilla Barrage and Annaram Pump House works that are in progress under the Kaleshwaram project here in Peddapalli.
Speaking on the occasion, Hemanth Soren said the Telangana State government was giving priority to the agriculture sector after the formation of the new State and started many projects. The works under Kaleshwaram project were going on in three shifts for 24 hours continuously for the sake of farming sector present in the State, he added.
The State government was striving hard for the welfare of farmers across the State and was taking up irrigation projects for their wellbeing. Later, the Harish Rao held a review meeting on the progress of works with concerned officials and representatives of various agencies which are taking up the works of Kaleshwaram project.
Addressing the meeting, Harish Rao directed the officials to speed up the works and complete the project by the end of June without delay. Keeping in view the summer season, he asked them to take necessary steps for carrying major part of works during night hours and provide cool water to those who were working under severe heat conditions and other facilities.
The Minister said that after June 10, the flow of water would increase from the Pranahita and directed the officials to fix five pumps which were required at Kannepalli to pump water and to complete the sub-station works by the end of April. For the construction of gates, L&T Company was importing machinery from Japan, he added.
The Minister directed the advisory member of State Irrigation Department Saritha Reddy to inspect regularly the pump house works along with giving necessary suggestions to the concerned officials. He also asked the officials to speed up the gravity canal works that were going on up to 12 kilometers in the forest region along with completion of the cement lining on time.
District Joint Collector Vanaja Devi, Kaleshwaram Project Chief Engineer Venkateshwarlu, district in-charge DRO Padmaiah, Godavarikhani ACP Rakshitha K Murthy, Irrigation officials, Mega Constructions representatives, Navayuga Company representatives and concerned officials were present.
