Hyderabad: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is likely to attend the Telangana Rashtra Samithi plenary meeting to be held in connection with its foundation day on April 27, which might be a day earlier and or later.

The regular practice is to hold a public meeting on April 27, and then hold plenary either before or after the date. This time it is not yet clear whether there would be a public meeting at all in which case the plenary might be held on the foundation day.

According to party sources, the ruling party will invite senior leaders from other political parties for the plenary. The sources said the Chief Minister had asked party seniors to invite Mamata Banerjee and other senior leaders to the plenary.

The sources also said the party’s senior leaders had a round of discussions with the Trinamul Congress leaders and it is also said that their leader has agreed to attend the meeting.

Among the other leaders, BJD leader and Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has agreed to send his party leaders to the meeting. However, the ruling party is yet to send any invite to these leaders as of now as the party leaders are said to be busy on the finalisation of the date which might be a day later or earlier to the party’s formation day.

According to sources, the party has formed a committee led by MP K Keshavs Rao to frame the draft policy for the federal front proposed by Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao. The committee is likely to make the report ready before the plenary and the leaders from other parties would be discussing on this.

The sources said that this year the party is unlikely to hold the public meeting as the Chief Minister would be busy this month with his new programme of distribution of cheques to the farmers as investment support.

The party leaders are holding Yadav, Kuruma Mahasabha on April 29 and it is said that there may not be another public meeting. “If there was any scope for public meeting, the date would have been decided a month before so that there may not be issues for crowd gathering.

As of now we think that there may not be public meeting this time,” said a senior leader from the party. The party leaders are yet to take a decision on the venue of the plenary. Sources said that the plenary may be held either at Hyderabad or at Nalgonda.
