Hyderabad: The Movie Artists Association (MAA) on Sunday ruled out giving membership to Sri Reddy, the upcoming actress, a day after she created a flutter by protesting in front of its office in Film Nagar in Jubilee Hills.

Representing the Association, the actor, Sivaji Raja who was reacting to her odd demonstration termed her act as disturbing and felt that she was indulging in drama for the sake of publicity. He held that since MAA had rejected the actress’s membership application, her protest will not have a mark on their decision.

“MAA rejected Sri Reddy’s membership application and none of the 900 members in MAA will support her membership. If anyone supports or tries to back her, MAA will also boycott them,’’ he said. He claimed that even though application for the membership was handed over to her earlier, she did not fill it up properly, he added.

On Saturday, the actress had stripped in public and staged a protest in front of the film chamber office, alleging that local artistes were not being given enough opportunities in the industry. She had also alleged that the association did not give her membership.

She squatted in front of the MAA office in Film Nagar in Jubilee Hills after removing her clothes one after the other. She said that she had to go topless only to expose the indifferent attitude of the
association.
