Police department given top funding priority: Naini
Hyderabad: The State government has given top priority to the police department in allocating funds to maintain law and order, said Home Minister Naini Narasimha Reddy at an event to mark the first anniversary of Telangana State Police Housing Corporation Limited (TSPHCL) Chairman here on Monday.
Speaking on the occasion the Home Minister said, “The government can complete development projects only when the law and order is well under control. The police are taking effective steps to maintain safety and security.
The government, under the leadership of TSPHCL Chairman Koleti Damodar, has constructing people-friendly buildings spending crores of rupees for renovation or rebuilding.” The government will focus on constructing double bedroom flats (quarters) for police personnel after the completion of office buildings, he said.
The TSPHCL Chairman Koleti Damodar affirmed that the corporation was working in a transparent manner, “We are procuring e-tenders which would ensure the transparency. We have undertaken works of renovation and new construction works, where ever needed,” he said.
The Chairman also stated that they would complete the works within a year. The budget allocation has been increased by 95 per cent compared to the last year. The budget sanction for the current financial year is Rs 464.4 crore, Damodar said.
The Police Housing Corporation has taken up construction works of Police Academy, Central Prisons, 14 Police Battalion Complexes each in 100 acres, OCTOPUS Training Centers in 600 acres and several police station buildings across the State.
With the financial assistance from the Central government, it has also taken up construction of 30,000 Police Residential Quarters, Buildings of DGP, Intelligence, CBCID, ACB, DG-Prisons, CRPF and Center for Good Governance. However, the Corporation undertook construction of the buildings of other government departments such as Technical Education, Forest, Prohibition & Excise, State Warehousing Corporation, PVNR Veterinary University.
