Union Minister launches Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana
Suryapet: Central Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas Dharmendra Pradhan launched the prestigious Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) scheme in Suryapet on Saturday.Addressing the gathering at a meeting held at SV Degree College grounds in the town, he said that he was feeling lucky to launch Ujjwala programme from Suryapet on the birth anniversary of Dr BR Ambedkar.
Modi, who hailed from a poor community, became the Prime Minister with the support of poor people and has been striving hard for the development of BPL families in the nation.
The government was aimed to sanction 3.57 crores free gas connections to rural poor under Ujjwala scheme in the interest of the households to stop using firewood and traditional Biomass fuels that have the potential to cause respiratory diseases.
Under Ujjwala programme, beneficiaries would get stove, regulator and six cylinders in a year at free of cost, he added. Stating that as many as 20 lakh SC and STs in Telangana have no gas connections, he informed that the government will provide free gas connections to all of them under the scheme.
The aim of Ujjwala scheme is to create smokeless Telangana, hence the Central government will sanction 707 gas distribution points in the State.
The BJP state president felt that PM Modi, following the ideology of Dr BR Ambedkar to achieve social justice in the country. The main aim of Ujjwala scheme is to eliminate tears in the eyes of women, while cooking food for their family.
As many as 20 lakh people would get gas connections in Ujjwala scheme across the State. After coming to power at the State, BJP will waive off the Rs 2 lakh crop loan, provide free bores to farmers and Rs 3,000 monthly stipend for unemployed youth in the State.
Former central minister Dattatreya said Ujjwala scheme was lanched mainly to replace firewood stove with that of gas in the the interest of women of the nation. As a part of launching of Ujjwala programme, Minister Dharmendra Pradhan distributed LPG connections to poor women beneficiaries.
Before launching the scheme, Minister Pradhan garlanded the statue of Ambedkar at Khammam cross roads and paid floral tributes. He also participated in mass meals programme held at Upender’s house at 19th ward in the town.
Meanwhile, local MRPS leaders staged a protest before the Central Minister Dhramendra Pradhan near Ambedkar statue and demanded implementation of the party poll promise of SC categorisation.
BJP assembly floor leader Kishan Reddy, MLC Ramachander Rao, Suryapet district Joint Collector Sanjeeva Reddy, BJP state vice-president S Venkateshwar Rao, distributors Jaya Krishna, Rahul Baradwaj, Rahul Mistri and people in large numbers participated in the programme.
