Justice has not been served, says Owaisi on Mecca Masjid blast case
Responding to the Mecca Masjid verdict today, All India Majlis-E-Ittehadul Muslimeen Party president and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi said that the NIA special court's judgment in the Mecca Masjid blast case is 100 percent unjustified.
In a series of tweets after the verdict on Monday, Owaisi fired against the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and the Modi government.
"The nine families who died in the Mecca Masjid blasts were not given justice. The Centre and NIA have acted against the inspiration to end terrorism. The arrest of the main accused was bailed within 90 days, but the NIA did not challenge. Most key witnesses in the case have spoken after 2014. NIA investigations have long been preoccupied. That's the political intervention. If the situation persists, there is a danger of justice in the country," Owaisi said.
The NIA special court on Monday acquitted five of the main accused in the 11-year-old bomb blast case of the Mecca Masjid. At least nine people died and seven policemen were killed and 58 others were injured when the blast broke out on May 18, 2007.
