NIA Judge quits after delivering verdict on Mecca Masjid blast case
Hyderabad: In an unprecedented event, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) Special Court Judge K Ravinder Reddy has tendered his resignation to the Metropolitan Sessions Judge and Chief Justice of High Court, hours after he pronounced the verdict on Mecca Masjid bomb blast case on Monday.
According to the sources, he had asked for a leave until his resignation gets accepted. The Fourth Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge reportedly stated personal reasons in his resignation letter.
Earlier in the day, the judge acquitted the five-accused citing lack of substantial evidence. The judge is likely to disclose the actual reasons after his resignation gets accepted, sources close to judge said. Justice K Ravinder Reddy is associated with Telangana Judges Association (TJA) and he was vocal in raising voice on bifurcation of the judges' issue and recruitment of 200 Andhra Pradesh judges in Telangana.
As the president of TJA he carried out a protest rally with 100 odd judges’ protest demanding bifurcation of the existing Hyderabad High Court and immediate recall of the provisional allocation list of judicial officers. Later, he was suspended by High Court under disciplinary grounds.
