100 women with unique achievement to be felicitated with Lady Legends honor
Hyderabad : Raja Ratna Health Care & Educational Trust, a Hyderabad based NGO, will felicitate 100 women with unique achievements.
They include Bamboo Entrepreneur-Aruna Kappagunthula; Dr. Aruna Ramaiah--- a Government Doctor who never had private practice nor clinic; Parody Queen Aruna Subba Rao; Auto Driver Narayanamma; Search for an eco-friendly Sofa Set lead Arun Kappaganthula and her husband to Tripura, Indo-Bangladesh border, which subsequently got them into the business of building bamboo houses. How the couple built their business that has now achieved a turnover of a couple of crore rupees by bouncing back from the brink of a washout, with a piled-up debt of Rs 60 lakh, makes for an astounding success story.
Aruna Kappagantula and her husband Prashant Lingam are owners of Bamboo House India, a few crore turnover proprietorships based in Hyderabad A Post Graduate in Zoology from Nagpur, who settled in Hyderabad due to her marriage, she got into altogether a new type of business, i.e., business of bamboo houses, bamboo interiors, bamboo furniture, scrap furniture, bottle furniture and low-cost houses where used plastic water and soft drink bottles are used instead of bricks in the construction walls. She has also pioneered in Bamboo Cupboards, Houses, Sofas, Chairs, Cots, Resorts, Bamboo Pent Houses, Tent Houses and many more things.
This accidental entrepreneur says India is the second largest producer of the Bamboos and we wanted. She has completed more 200 projects so far. She has also built a bus shelter using scrap bottles near Uppal. She developed it for just Rs 15,000. They take up free community projects by using college students as free labor/volunteers.
Lady auto-driver Narayanamma, a resident of Nizampet Hyderabad, is one of the Lady Legends chosen. Originally from Cuddapah, Narayanamma got into auto driving to support her family as she was left by her husband. I earn Rs 50,000/- per month I support the education of my B.Tech son and M. Pharmacy daughter, she says.
Principal Osmania Medical College Dr. Aruna Ramaiah is another Lady Legend in the making. Who being a government servant always stayed away from private practice. In her career spanning nearly four decades, she never opened a private clinic nor consulted privately for extra income. Wife of an IPS officer, Susheel Kumar, who retired as IG Prisons, she dedicated her career 100% for government service, which is very rare. So she certainly deserves a Lady Legends Accolades.
Social Activist and Burns Survival Counselor Neehaari Mandali who upon failed marriage tried to commit suicide by setting herself on fire, but survived with 65 per cent burns. After so many plastic surgeries and partial recovery she never lost hope. “Winning a war doesn’t mean killing the enemy, but, winning the enemy.” I got inspiration from cine hero Pavan Kalyan, Neehari Mandali decided to counsel those who are in recovery from burns. She founded an NGO named BSMS through which she has organized Fashion Show for the Burns Survivors. Neehaari Mandali is an inspiration to many burn survivors.
Nihari Mandali, the burn survivor from Andhra Pradesh who showed the world that will power could defeat the deformities, is preparing to release her autobiography - ‘Maattathinte Kuthipp’ in Malayalam. She hails from Krishna District in Andhra Pradesh. She is another nominee for the Lady Legends Accolades this year.
Spoorthi Yagadiri, the youngest playback singer who at the age of 11years started singing for films not only for big times heroes but also sang an item song, which even most experienced find difficult to sing. Unlike many peers, she learned western music. This young musician is the pride of many kids. She became famous with the song "Kukkurukuru" from the movie Kick 2. Spoorthy also made her name in the Telugu Book Of World Records as the youngest playback singer, lyricist, and music composer. She completed western under continuation from trinity college of music, London and aspired to become one of the top 10 opera singers of Hollywood and to bring name and fame to the Telangana state of India. This singing sensation is singing away to glory is another recipient of Lady Legend Accolades.

Lady Legends Accolades is a unique initiative to felicitate 100 exemplary women from the Telugu States who are unsung, and they are different from other women. These are the women who are changing the world, they broke the glass ceiling, stay inspired, pioneered and created history.
This accolades program is designed on the lines of felicitation to 112 First Ladies of India by the Government of India. A grand program will be held on 22nd April at Park Hyatt.
