Honorary Consulate General of Republic of Korea inaugurated
Hyderabad : Shin Bong Kil, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea, on Friday inaugurates The Office of the Honorary Consulate General of Republic of Korea at Hyderabad in the presence of Telangana Chief Secretary S.K. Joshi.
Suresh Chukkapalli, a prominent businessman in Telangana, was appointed as the Honorary Consul General of Hyderabad on November 1st 2017.
The Honorary Consulate General Office, located in Film Nagar, heads a subdivision of the Consulate General office in Mumbai to protect and provide assistance to Korean nationals in the state of Telangana and facilitate trade relations by liasioning between the consular jurisdiction, Telangana and the Republic of Korea. It is also committed to promote Korean art, language and culture in the region through the Korean Art & Cultural Centre, which is also being inaugurated today in the same premises.
"We will offer Korean language teaching in this centre. We will try to depute a Korean language teacher from Seoul, he informed. We will also work on cultural exchange program," the Ambassador added. "We have currently Honorary Consular General office’s in Kolkata, Chandigarh and Goa Besides Hyderabad. Hyderabad is a very important centre for us. Telangana Government is doing a very good job said," Shin Bong Kil.
Addressing the gathering at the inauguration, Shin Bong Kil said that the Republic of Korea was committed to strengthening political and socio-economic relations with the state of Telangana. He also specified that the Honorary Consulate General in Hyderabad would result in deeper bonds between South Korea and Telangana in the prime areas of foreign affairs, science, education and culture, and boost the exchange of novel ideas between the people of Telangana and South Korea.
"We have 200 plus Koreans live in Hyderabad. Samsung and Hyundai have offices in Hyderabad. A large Korean Pharmaceutical company is very seriously considering to invest in Telangana," said Shin Bong Kil.
