TS Govt to extend support in holding Karnataka polls
Hyderabad : The Telangana Government will extend full cooperation and support to the Karnataka Government in the successful conduct of free and fair elections in the state. This was stated by Chief Secretary Dr S K Joshi to his Karnataka counterpart during a video conference on Thursday.
Principal Secretary GAD Adhar Sinha, Principal Secretary Revenue (Excise) Somesh Kumar and other officials attended the conference.
Chief Secretaries, Director General of Police and Senior officials of Excise department of the five neighbouring states of Karnataka which is going to the polls on 12th of May attended the video conference.
As many as 800 police personnel from Telangana State will be deputed to Karnataka state as per the request of the state government, Joshi said. Increased vigil across the borders including strengthening of the check posts will be taken up by the state government in view of elections in Karnataka. He also instructed the General Administration Department officials of the state to issue necessary instructions to the Collectors and SPs of the five neighbouring districts i.e. Mahaboobnagar, Gadwal, Sangareddy, Kamareddy and Vikarabad. He said that liquor shops in all the five neighbouring districts in the 5 Kms radius from Karnataka Border will be shut down for 48 hours before the commencement of the polling day.
DGP Mahender Reddy said that the Additional DGP (L&O) Jitender will be the nodal officer for coordinating with Karnataka state. He assured to exchange relevant data base of criminals and also sensitise the jail officials.
Karnataka Chief Secretary Ratnaprabha and DGP Neelamani Raju sought the cooperation of all the five neighbouring states for conducting elections in a peaceful manner. They also thanked the officials for extending support and cooperation to the state towards conducting free and fair elections in the state.
