IIIT Hyderabad student, native of Guntur, hangs self
Hyderabad: A 21-year-old Engineering student allegedly committed suicide by hanging self from a ceiling fan with a bedsheet at International Institute of Information Technology (IIIT), Hyderabad campus in Gachibowli on Thursday.
The deceased was identified as Puli Sunandh Kumar Reddy, a fourth-year Engineering student of IIIT, who hailed from Siddharthanagar in Guntur of Andhra Pradesh. According to the police, his friend Sai Sahith had called Sunandh Kumar Reddy to know his whereabouts.
But he did not answer. Then, he alerted Rohith, another friend of them. Then both of them went to Palash Nivas hostel inside the IIIT campus where the deceased was staying. Sunandh bolted the door from inside and did not open the door even after several knocks.
With the growing suspicion, the inmates of the hostel broke open the door with the help of campus security guards, only to find him hanging from the ceiling fan.
The deceased reportedly kept a suicide note in his room addressing their parents and a letter to his favorite actor Mahesh Babu. He stated in the suicide note that he was resorting to the extreme step due to depression.
It seems he used to see movies, particularly of Mahesh Babu movies, to get out of depression,” said Gachibowli Inspector M Gangadhar, quoting his suicide note. The police shifted the mortal remains of Sunandh Kumar Reddy to the Gandhi Hospital for autopsy.
A case has been registered with Gachibowli police under Section 174 Cr P C and further investigation is on to ascertain the cause of death.
