Telugus shine in jee (Main)
Hyderabad: Students from two Telugu states have bagged five out of the first 10 ranks in the top 20 All India Ranks of the JEE (Main)-2018 results declared by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Monday. Bhogi Suraj Krishna and KVR Hemant Kumar Chodipilli from Andhra Pradesh have bagged the first and second ranks, respectively.
Gattu Mytraya and Gosula Vinayaka Srivardhan from Telangana have bagged the fifth and 10th ranks, respectively. Similarly, Dakarapu Bharath from Andhra Pradesh got the 8th rank. Of the top 20 all India ranks, Jatoth Shiva Tarun from Telangana got 14th and Pinnamreddy Lokeswar Reddy from AP bagged the 15th rank.
Out of the top 20 all India ranks, seven have been qualified to the JEE (Advanced)-2018 from both the Telugu states and eight are from Rajasthan. According to a CBSE press release, a total of 2,31,024 have cleared the JEE (Main)-2018 examinations held in April this year qualifying to appear for the JEE (Advanced)-2018 examination.
Of the total number of candidates qualified to appear for the JEE (Advanced), 1,80,331 are boys and 50,693 are girls. The category-wise cut off and the number of candidates declared eligible for the JEE (Advanced) is that under Common Rank List 1,11,275 candidates have been qualified and the cut-off is 74. Similarly, under OBC-NCL 65,313 candidates have been qualified and the cut-off is 45. For 34,425 candidates qualified under the SC category, the cut-off is 29 and the cut-off for 17,256 ST candidates qualified is 24. Under Persons with Disabilities (PwD) 2,755 candidates are qualified and the cut-off mark for them is 35, it said.
The procedure of tie-breaking mentioned in the information bulletin has been followed in the calculation of all India ranks of the candidates who have obtained the same score in Paper-I of JEE (Main) 2018. Results of the JEE (Main) 2018 and cut-off for eligibility to appear in JEE (Advanced)-2018 are notified on the board's websites http://jeemain.nic.in and http://cbseresults.nic.in.
A total of 11,35,084 candidates have registered for paper 1 of the JEE (Main)-2018. The examination was held in offline as offline mode. While 8, 57,564 appeared in the offline examination held on April 8 in 113 cities across the country. Similarly, a total of 2, 16,755 candidates appeared in the online examinations which were held on April 15 and 16 across 258 cities in the country, the press release said.
