Harish all praise for Hans, HMTV

 ​Hyderabad: Debunking the myth that donating blood during summer could be hazardous to health, The Hans India, HMTV and Kapil Group on Tuesday jointly organised blood donation camp in coordination with the Red Cross Society across the 10 erstwhile districts of Telangana. The idea of holding the blood camp was to create awareness among people that there is no harm in donating blood during summer.

Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao inaugurating the Siddipet blood donation camp, appreciated the efforts of The Hans India and HMTV and said he was immensely inspired by the concept of mobilising blood during summer months and assured the gathering that he would take the spirit forward and organise two more blood donation camps in Siddipet.

Health Minister C Laxma Reddy inaugurated the camp in Mahbubnagar and appreciated the efforts made by The Hans India, HMTV and Kapil Group. An official of the Red Cross Society said, “Contributing so many units of blood during peak summer was a remarkable achievement.”  The camps held at different towns were a huge success as people started thronging the camps right from 7:30 am. In all, 360 donors gave blood, with Hyderabad and Warangal topping the list with 55 donors each. 

The other places the camps were held at include Nalgonda, Khammam, Karimnagar, Nizamabad, Mahbubnagar, Karimnagar, Adilabad and Siddipet. Expressing the need for blood donation in summer, the Red Cross Society doctors said, “The availability of blood during summer months comes down drastically which results in loss of life due to its non-availability when it is needed the most. Road accidents and diseases strike in every season. Incidentally, the blood donation camp coincides with the International Labour Day as well.”

Warangal Rural District Collector M Haritha inaugurated the camp in Warangal. She interacted with the donors. She said the blood donation is a noble gesture that helps save lives of those in urgent need. MLA P Ajay Kumar appreciated the social responsibility exhibited by The Hans India and HMTV by taking up such programmes for the betterment of society.

A healthy person can donate blood regularly every year which saves the fellow human beings who are badly in need of blood. Every day, 300 ml of blood will be rejuvenated in the body. President of the Red Cross Society Dr Jayachandra Reddy said that blood transfusion is an essential part of patient care and one out of ten people admitted in the hospital is in need of blood. Donation of blood saves millions of lives every year along with improving life expectancy. One road accident victim requires as much as 100 ml of blood, he added.
