HMDA parks roll back hike in entry ticket prices

Hyderabad: Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) did a volte-face on its decision to increase entry ticket rates of popular parks flocked by citizens during weekends and holidays. The decision to hike monthly pass rates for morning walkers was also rolled back within 24 hours.

The orders were rolled back following instructions from Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MA&UD)Minster KTRama Rao. Accordingly, HMDA Commissioner TChiranjeevulu issued fresh statement on Wednesday evening to withdraw the hike paving way for earlier rates to continue as it is.

It may be mentioned here that entry tickets for adults visiting Lumbini Park, NTR Garden, Sanjeevaiah Park was increased from Rs 20 to Rs 25 while for children from Rs 10 to Rs 15. Likewise, morning walker passes at Sanjeevaiah Park were hiked from existing Rs 75 to Rs 100 on Tuesday.

The metropolitan body decided to increase rates following burden of increased electricity costs and maintenance of parks. It is learnt that the Minister got feedback to roll back the rates from various quarters and hence the U-turn.
