Huge stock of spurious coal seized
Hyderabad: The Rachakonda Special Operation police on Friday apprehended 11 persons for involved in making adulterated coal and seized 450 tonnes of coal, worth Rs 23 lakh, from two processing units at Choutuppal and Ibrahimpatnam outskirts.
Acting on a tip-off, the SOT police raided the processing units and found that the accused were procuring C-grade coal from Singareni Collieries in Kothagudem, Koyagudem, Illendu and Manuguru coal mines at Rs 4,000 per metric tonne and F-grade coal at Rs 2,300.
The accused with an intention of making easy profit, have been mixing the C-grade coal with F-grade coal and selling it to the brick manufacturers at a cost of Rs 5,000 to Rs 5,800 per metric tonne, police said. In another unit at Choutuppal, the accused were mixing the coal with four tonnes of black stones.
The arrested include K Lakshmaiah (35), Mohd Islam (45), Kamrul Haq (45), Soma (30), Venkataiah (26), S Raju Goud (32), K Ramu (27), Satish Reddy (20), R Surender Reddy (26), G Shiva Kumar Reddy and G Sai Kumar (24).
