KCR resents TSRTC staff demands
Hyderabad: Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on Tuesday took a strong exception to RTC employees' demands and also the strike notice given by them. Rao, ministers panel and RTC senior officials who met over the employees' issues felt that the demands were quite unjustified.
The CM also reviewed at the meeting with the ministers panel and senior officials the demands raised by government employees and teachers. The meeting went on till late night on Tuesday. The meeting recalled the 44 per cent fitment given by TRS government to RTC staff soon after it assumed power.
The Chief Minister said that the basic pay of RTC employees in Telangana was Rs 12,610 compared to Rs 11,610 in Karnataka and just Rs 4,350 in Maharashtra. Despite this, they were putting pressure on the government to hike wages, which would impose an additional burden of Rs 1,400 crore on the exchequer, he resented. Mincing no words, he asked RTC the staff to introspect whether the governement should run the RTC facing huge losses for last few years.
