BJP begins legwork for general elections

Hyderabad: BJP State president Dr K Laxman said his party had decided to gear up for the Assembly elections scheduled to be held in 2019. Ahead of the Assembly elections, the party has decided to focus on the village panchayat elections to be held in July this year.

Addressing a party office bearers meeting in which the party national general secretary (organisation) V Satish attended as the chief guest here on Friday, Laxman said the meeting had been convened to chalk out strategies to strengthen the party in 1.13 lakh wards and 12,751 village panchayats across the State.

He said the main focus of the party was to build a strong base right from the booth level and to prepare the party in all respects for the Assembly and Parliament elections in 2019.

As part of this, the State had been classified into four parliamentary clusters and each cluster had been assigned to a senior leader of the party, he said. Accordingly, BJP general secretary Ram Madhav will look after party activities in Adilabad, Nizamabad, Karimnagar, Medak and Zaheerabad clusters. Union Minister Narendra Singh Tomar will oversee party activities in Mahabubabad, Warangal and Malkajgiri cluster. 

Similarly, Bihar Health Minister Mangal Pandey will oversee party activities in Bhongir, Nalgonda and Mahbubnagar. Former Union Minister Bandaru Dattatreya would take care of Secunderabad, Hyderabad, Pedapalli and Khammam cluster, he said.  BJP national leaders Nallu Indrasena Reddy, national executive member Perala Sekhar Rao, former MLA Baddam Bal Reddy, Y Lakshminarayana, MLAs Chintala Ramachandra Reddy, NVVS Prabhakar and other senior leaders and office bearers attended the meeting.
