Hyderabad: The arrival of the Karnataka Congress MLAs caused major traffic disruption on Banjara Hills Road No 1 opposite Taj Krishna Hotel on Friday. Several motorists were stuck helplessly in the traffic congestion before the traffic police intervened.

The Volvo bus, in which the MLAs reached the city, got stuck in the middle of the arterial road, causing traffic congestion in the rush hour. The arrival of the MLAs was not communicated to police officials to take the necessary measures, a police officer said.

The non-availability of heavy duty cranes for the removal of the bus had become difficult for the office goers and other commuters with the slow-moving traffic from Begumpet to Banjara Hills for about three hours. Many commuters took longest routes to reach their destinations.

According to an eyewitness, the bus driver refused to enter the Taj Hotel, predicting risk, but one of the local Congress MLA insisted the driver to enter the hotel. However, when the driver drove to enter, the bus got stuck on the road. Following which, the Karnataka MLAs stepped out of the bus and hurried into the
hotel.

Meanwhile, the traffic police have reached the spot with recovery vehicle and removed the bus. “It had become very difficult to remove the vehicle as it was a heavy vehicle. We used a recovery vehicle, and jacks to move the bus,” said a police officer.
