Congress MLC seeks probe by sitting judge
Hyderabad: Deputy Floor Leader of Congress in the Legislative Council Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy on Tuesday demanded the government to inquire into the irregularities in recording the details of lands in the new pattadar passbooks.
Addressing the media, he said that the government should order an inquiry by a sitting judge as big scam has taken place during the entry of details of lands in the new pattadar passbooks and they were ready to produce proofs. He said that even the details of his own lands in Khammam district were wrongly recorded in the new passbooks.
The Congress MLC said that the details of land being owned by him in Narayanapuram village of Khammam district in survey number 116 and in Korlagudem in survey number 351/12/1 were not entered in the new passbooks.
He alleged that with the connivance of Village Revenue Assistants, lands of government, Forest and temples have been shown as private lands in the passbooks of few farmers. Lakhs of acres of government, Forest and temple lands have been grabbed.
The MLC demanded the government to form monitoring committees at State, district and mandal levels to inquire into the irregularities being committed while entering the details of lands in the passbooks.
Stating that the government has turned Rythu Bandhu scheme into Vote Bandhu scheme, Ponguleti said the government has woken up after four years.
The Rythu Bandhu scheme is not of any great help to farmers as they have been sustaining losses due to spurious seed, loan sharks and middlemen, he said. He further added that the government has failed to ensure implementation of promises made to Telangana in the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act. The case of AP Heavy Machinery and Engineering Limited was example for that.
