Hyderabad: The Congress may announce the names of the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) office bearers and chairmen of committees during this week, according to sources. Regarding which TPCC president N Uttam Kumar Reddy may be called to Delhi after Thursday.

Party sources said that the high command would announce the office bearers of the TPCC as it was already delayed. It would announce the names as soon as the formation of government in Karnataka is over.

The Janata Dal (S) would form the government in Karnataka on Wednesday and its leader H D Kumaraswamy will swear in as the Chief Minister. The Congress and JD (S) may face a floor test immediately. This process would be completed in the next two to three days and the high command would get relieved from the formation of government in Karnataka.

The Congress leaders in Delhi wanted to announce the office bearers of TPCC during the second week of this month and asked Uttam to meet them at Delhi with his recommendations. However, the process was delayed with the polling, announcement of results and consequent developments in Karnataka.

Party leaders said that the high command did not want to delay the announcement of the office bearers anymore and would complete the activity in this week itself.

N Uttam Kumar Reddy might be called to Delhi after Thursday as the Karnataka political activities will be concluded by that time. The Congress high command would finalise the names in the meeting with Uttam.

Congress leaders said that the announcement of office bearers has become immediate task for the high command as the State is entering into election year by end of this month. The government and the Assembly have been formed in Telangana on June 2 in 2014 and with the end of May the election year would begin.

The TPCC has to prepare for the elections in 2019 and appointment of office bearers and several party committees is a must for that purpose.  The high command is likely to announce several vice presidents, three working presidents, general secretaries, organising secretaries and secretaries of the TPCC. It would announce the chairmen and members of committees like Strategies, Manifesto, Campaign and other committees.

The Congress is yet to complete the formation of district committees in the State and most of them have been functioning without DCCs. The newly formed districts did not have committees.
