June 20 deadline for Rythu Bandhu Scheme, passbooks issue

Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on Wednesday warned officers of stringent action if they remain irresponsible and commit mistakes in the implementation of his government’s flagship scheme – Rythu Bandhu – and distribution of pattadar passbooks. 

Taking serious note of the complaints lodged with the government, which are mainly technical in nature, the Chief Minister appointed senior IAS officials as Special officers to supervise and coordinate with local authorities in 30 districts. He also set June 20 as deadline for completing distribution of cheques and passbooks.

Reviewing at a high-level meeting the issue of passbooks and distribution of Rythu Bandhu cheques with ministers and top officials including Collectors at Pragathi Bhavan here, the CM expressed his displeasure over reports of errors and blunders in land records purification and rectification process. He deplored the inconvenience and hardships being caused to farmers, as a result. He ordered immediate rectification of errors and issue of passbooks to the farmers at the earliest. 

Taking umbrage at scams and complaints of corruption during purification of land records, he warned the erring officials of sternest action. He instructed officials to keep aside the passbooks and cheques pertaining to those who are not coming forward to link their Aadhar numbers. 

He directed the Collectors to make necessary arrangements to introduce the new registration policy and also the farmers insurance scheme to be launched in June. He announced that the premium of the proposed insurance policy for all farmers in the state would be borne by his government. 

The Rs 5 lakh insurance policy will be extended to all poor farmers. The premium amount on behalf of farmer will be paid by his government.  Insurance money will be transferred to the nominee automatically in case of death of farmer, he said.    

The Chief Minister  felt that the Tahsildars of respective mandals should be entrusted with the responsibility of cent percent distribution of passbooks and cheques. Ministers concerned at district level and MLAs at constituency level should supervise the activity.  He reiterated his government’s resolve to put an end to all land-related disputes, and complete the cleansing, rectification and updation of land records.  The Chief Minister reminded that Telangana was the lone State in the country which dared take up such an arduous and ­challenging task.
