TS Govt to partner with DSCI to set up Cyber Security Centre of Excellence
Hyderabad : The Government of Telangana today announced its partnership with Data Security Council of India (DSCI), an initiative of NASSCOM, to setup the Cyber Security - Centre of Excellence (CoE) with the aim to accelerate Telangana’s Cyber Security momentum and position the state as one of the leading Cyber Security hub in India over the next five years.
The CoE based on Public-Private-Partnership model will accelerate and strengthen the ecosystem by focusing on strategic areas including, innovation, entrepreneurship and capability building. This CoE in partnership with industry will also enhance State’s Cyber Security preparedness, adoption of security technologies and capability building.
DSCI with its network will facilitate partnership with industry, academia & government and foster Cyber Security and Privacy policy enablement, spur innovation and explore investment opportunities, establish technical infrastructure to enable innovation, product development and testing, and build capacity to meet the skills and talent requirements of the country.
Speaking on the occasion Jayesh Ranjan, Principal Secretary of the Industries & Commerce (I&C) and Information Technology (IT) Department of the Telangana Government said, "Telangana is the base for leading Global Technology Corporations, IT Services, Engineering and Research and Development and Incubation Hub- THub. The state has been a pioneer in having a Cyber Security policy. Building the CoE as a collaborative hub where government, industry and academic institutions will work hand in hand will stimulate its position as a preferred destination for cyber security, and develop talent and capability.”
Debjani Ghosh, President NASSCOM said, "Indian IT-BPM industry is in its next growth phase with Digital and Cyber Security being the key levers. As a country, India needs to leapfrog its capabilities in cyber security and target an industry vision of enabling 10 percent of industry revenues from cyber security products and services. Setting up of the CoE for nurturing entrepreneurship and innovation skills is an affirmative step by the Telangana Government to accelerate this ecosystem.”
Rama Vedashree, CEO, DSCI, said, "The partnership with Government of Telangana on establishment of CoE is very timely for DSCI’s cyber security industry development initiatives. The CoE will contribute to accelerating Telangana as a preferred destination and drive innovation and talent development. The programs rolled out by the CoE will significantly contribute in accomplishing the objectives of the State Cyber Security Policy in protecting Critical Information Infrastructure and security awareness.”
Telangana, with state level Cyber Security policy, is emerging as a growing IT Hub in India with its unique mix of stakeholders ranging from leading global technology companies, Defense labs and several premier academic institutes. With the proposed roadmap for the CoE, the state aims to position itself as preferred destination for cyber security in India, garnering its fair share of the NASSCOM-DSCI Cyber Security Task Force (CSTF) vision of USD35 billion industry by 2025.
