Fire accident at OU spot valuation centre

Hyderabad: Fire broke out in the Osmania University Spot Valuation Centre in the wee hours of Tuesday. Few degree answer sheets were gutted in the fire; however, the authorities did not have a count on the loss of the answer booklets. The source of the fire is yet to be ascertained.

The fire incident raises doubts as several answer sheets gutted in the fire which happened in the gloom. The authorities are probing whether it is a plot of students. However, the authorities say that the students do not have access in to the building.

On noticing the smoke emanating from the building, locals alerted the fire and police departments. A fire tender has been rushed to the spot and controlled the fire. University officials including Vice-Chancellor Ramachandram visited the spot.

“It was a minor fire accident, some of the degree answer sheets gutted in the fire. The incident happened at around 5:30 am,” said G Jagan, Inspector of OU police station. Fire department officials estimated the source of fire due to short circuit. 

The university Vice-Chancellor has constituted a committee to probe into the incident and directed the committee to submit a report in two days. The police had registered a case and further investigation is on.
