GHMC to conduct three-day Elders' Mela from June 15

Hyderabad : GHMC Commissioner Dr. B. Janardhan Reddy said that the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation has taken several initiatives for the welfare of citizens aged over 60 years.
 
He said 'Aasara' and other schemes have been launched to provide senior citizens a healthy, respectful and dignified life.
 
The Commissioner informed that the GHMC, in coordination with Elders Club International Foundation (ECIF) and in association with Department of Disabled and Senior Citizens, Aasara, Red Cross, Senior Citizens Association, RWAs, Federations and Old Age Homes, is conducting Elders Mela 2018 on 15th, 16th and 17th of June at A.V. College in Domalguda to sensitize people on the issues concerning senior citizens. The arrangements for the programme were discussed in a review meeting held at the GHMC Head Office today.
 
Free medical camps, cultural activities, games, sports, felicitations to silver jubilee couples, retired employees, and pensioners will be conducted during the three days mela from 15th to 17th.
 
Former DGP Gopinath Reddy, Justice Chandraiah, Elders Mela Organiser Krishna Reddy and representatives of various RWAs and Senior Citizens Associations have participated in the meeting.
