DGP out to end mamool raj

, Hyderabad: In an unprecedented development, the Director General of Police (DGP) M Mahender Reddy has directed all the district Superintendents of Police and Commissioners of Police to abolish Special Party/ ID Party teams as the personnel involved in collecting monthly mamools.

The DGP office has sent the unit wise list to the SPs and CPs through email to take immediate action. The DGP sent a tentative list comprising as many as 391 names of police personnel ranging from Assistant Sub-Inspector to Constable to all SPs and CPs directing to transfer them to AR Headquarters.

The police top brass has noticed that the police personnel were collecting money under the guise of ID Party, Special Party, and Crime Party. The DGP prepared a list with the details such as the name of the officer and on behalf whom he collected mamools.  Several erring officers were, allegedly, collecting money from wine shops, toddy shops, transport shops, hotels, builders and other establishments, settling cases on behalf of accused persons.

In a letter to SPs and CPs, the DGP reportedly wrote, “Some of them have already discontinued their activities, while a few others are still continuing their activities. This list is only indicative but not exhaustive. The list will also be dynamic as you start attaching the incorrigible to the AR Headquarters.

All SPs and CPs are requested to put an end to the menace of the organised collection of mamools at all levels by attaching the concerned to AR Headquarters with immediate effect wherever they have not discontinued the practice.” He warned that any further continuation of such practices would lead to drawing an adverse inference against the concerned unit officer.
