A massive fire broke out in a paints warehouse in Hyderabad on Friday evening. A cloud of black smoke covered the area. Locals immediately alerted the fire tenders following which 14 fire tenders were pressed into service from across the city including Kukatpally, Sanathnagar, Secunderabad, Jeedimetla and other places with five HMWS&SB water tankers were kept for refilling the tenders with water.
The fire broke out at a paint shop in a building located beside Bajaj service centre, near Ranigunj railway station at about 5:30 pm. However, with the flammable materials stored in the warehouse, the fire spread out to the entire building. No casualties have been reported.
Even after six hours, the fire officials struggled to douse the fire to the area due to the lack of ventilation. The damage to the property has been estimated at around Rs 25 lakh so far. The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.
